HAPPY SERENDIPITY DAY!

August 18th, 2010 Madeleine Kay No comments

Making the world a happier place . . . one personal at a time!

Serendipity Day is being celebrated today – August 18th for the first time this year!  Go to www.serendipityholiday.com to learn more.

I am in the process of getting Serendipity Day declared a national holiday.  The response to this has been so overwhelmingly enthusiastic and people have been asking me . . . Why August 18th?  So . . . I’ll let you in on the mystery so that today will carry special added significance for you . . . and you will be able to celebrate and appreciate Serendipity Day that much more today – August 18th!

Reason #1 – In ancient Numerology, the number 8 means “manifestation.”  Well,

August is the 8th month . . . and 8 is part of the number 18.

So . . . Serendipity Day is a day for you to manifest whatever you desire

                     and dream of.

Reason #2 – In ancient Numerology, the number 9 means “completion.”  Since

                     1 + 8 = 9 . . . Serendipity Day is a day for you to complete something

you have begun.  (I don’t know about you, but I am always “in

process” with so many things, that “completion” is an big thing for me

                     . . . and for you too, I imagine.)

August 18th is an invitation for you to complete something you

want to – something you’ve been dealing with, something

you’ve been working on, something you’ve been holding on to

and are ready to let go of.

Reason #3 – In ancient languages, there were no numbers, so the letters of the

alphabet had numerical equivalents.  In ancient Hebrew, the letters in

the  word for Life – Chai – total up to 18.  So . . . Serendipity Day is a

day for you to celebrate life . . . celebrate the joy of being alive!

Reason #4 – The sequence of numbers that results from having the holiday on

August 18th is 8-1-8.  (August is the 8th month and 18 is the day

of the official Serendipity celebration.)  This sequence adds up to 17,

which when added together equals 8! . . . which brings us back to

where we started – manifesting what we want in life!

(P.S.  This was quite by accident . . . or serendipitous, if you will.  I had

not consciously intended or thought of #4, it just happened . . .

But, there are no accidents, are there?!  So . . . Serendipity Day is

a day that is telling us, each one of us, to manifest what we desire,

to complete and let go of what we wish to, and to celebrate life!

          So . . . Live Serendipitously . . . Enjoy . . . and

Dare to Celebrate the Joy of Being Alive

Happy Serendipity Day!!

                                                                  8 – 1 – 8

Dare To Be Phenomenal

August 16th, 2010 Madeleine Kay No comments

“Anyone who doesn’t believe in miracles, isn’t a realist,” said David Ben-Gurion,
the first Prime Minister of Israel.

A friend of mine just e-mailed me when she heard I have created a new holiday – Serendipity Day – and am in the process of getting it declared a national holiday.

“How do you do these things?” she wrote.  “You are phenomenal … I am struggling to get some PR for my new book and you are creating National holidays … wondrous … at this time in the world, all this is so needed.”

And it made me realize how needed all this really is … how needed a holiday celebrating serendipity is … how needed it is to remind me why I began writing about serendipity in the first place, and why I am committed to helping people bring more serendipity into their lives, every single day … how needed it is to remind every one of you that you have the ability to be phenomenal – and that you too can do anything you want … even create national holidays!

Serendipity Day is a day for you to begin to remember how phenomenal you are … how thrilling life can be!  It is a day that invites you to dare to be enthusiastic … to get excited about something … and then carry that over into every day of your life so you make your life extraordinary and serendipitous.

My friend asked me how I do these things . . . it’s simple.  I get so excited that the energy, the passion, the momentum of my sheer, unadulterated enthusiasm propel me forward to just do it!  I don’t hesitate; I don’t wonder how; I don’t ask myself “what if.”  I just do it . . . and am fueled by the uninterrupted momentum of my enthusiasm.

Nothing special . . . no extraordinary talent or secret.  I just think of something … get excited about it . . . decide to do it . . . and then just do it!  And you can too … if you will believe in miracles and just say yes, instead of how or what if.

Live Serendipitously . . . EnjOy . . . and Dare to Be Phenomenal!

ENTHUSIASM IS CONTAGIOUS

July 25th, 2010 Madeleine Kay No comments

Enthusiasm is contagious.  Contagious to everyone around you AND to and within your own being . . . and enthusiasm is an essential element of living serendipitously.

The Greek root – En Theos – means “In God.”  So when you are enthusiastic, you are literally Godlike – expressing your divine self.

Too many people are afraid to be enthusiastic – afraid they will look foolish or unprofessional if they get too excited about something, or afraid people will think they are peculiar if they don’t seemingly have “A Good Reason,” to be really enthusiastic  (which I find incredible), or afraid they will be disappointed if what they are enthusiastic about doesn’t come to pass.

So what if . . . if . . . if . . . Who cares what other people think?  Who cares if what you are excited about doesn’t happen?  There will always be more things to get excited about, so that living with enthusiasm becomes a way of life – your natural response to being alive.

It keeps you in motion, alive, vital – and always engaged.  How serendipitous!  How wonderful to live with this exquisite, almost breathless feeling of anticipation that at any moment, something wonderful is about to happen.  It creates an immediacy and a visceral presence that force you to live in and always experience the magic of the moment . . . the wonder of NOW.

So enthusiasm is invigorating, vitalizing, magnetic and electrifying.  It draws those things and people to you that you desire, connecting you with what Deepak Chopra calls “the world of infinite possibilities” – the realm from which all things originate.  It opens up your channels so that life flows into you and then back out of you over and over and over again – with that gush of creativity, vitality and love that let you know that YOU ARE ALIVE!

How do you begin to live with enthusiasm?  Simple – Just do it!  Don’t think about it . . . Don’t analyze it . . . Just do it!  You will find that you feel so fabulous, that you won’t want to stop.  You won’t be able to because the energy of enthusiasm creates an unstoppable, impermeable and unperturbable momentum all its own.

So give yourself permission to be crazy, mad with joy and wonder (remember . . .  wonderful means “full of wonder”).

Live Serendipitously . . . Be Enthusiastic . . . And Go “En Theos!”

DECLARING YOUR INDEPENDENCE

June 29th, 2010 Madeleine Kay No comments

Independence Day reminds us all how important it is to declare our independence – emotional independence, physical independence, and what so many people are struggling with now . . . financial independence.

The most obvious way to become financially independent, is to simply decide to be . . . to make it happen, not wait for it to happen; not just hope or pray or wish that it will happen, like some accident.  Deciding makes you proactive and your independence therefore, purposeful and deliberate.

But there is another way to declare your independence . . . a way that is less obvious, but equally as powerful and important as deciding.  And that is – by rejoicing after you have worked hard to make your decision become a reality.

The dictionary says the word rejoice comes from the French.  I am reminded of a wonderful French phrase – joie de vivre – which really has no English equivalent.  It  literally translates into “joy of life.”

The definition of rejoice is “to feel joy and great delight.”  When you rejoice, you  realign yourself with joy.  After your hard work, your focus, your consistent actions and belief – after all these steps that require mobilization of your resources and energy – you  let go so you can realign yourself with joy.

You realign yourself with your source that enables you to do and accomplish all things.  And in that way, rejoicing reconnects you with who you are – with your divinity.  It reconnects your human and your Godlike self.

When you rejoice, you reconnect with your source, your core – you reconnect with why you do what you do . . . with why you are alive . . . for the sheer joy of it all.

When I say the word rejoice, I find myself thinking of the word choice – or re-choice.  Partially, I am sure, because they sound so much alike.  But also, I wonder if perhaps they are not intimately connected.  Perhaps when we rejoice, we are satisfying something elemental and deep inside us . . . and by doing so . . . we liberate ourselves to make better choices based on the completion and satisfaction we experience as a result.

Perhaps when we rejoice and celebrate, we complete a cycle and allow ourselves to move on with our full power and being, to whatever it is we want to do or accomplish next.

Perhaps when we rejoice, we are actually re-choicingRe-choicing with our whole heart – with our passion undiluted, our resolve undissipated and distilled down to its essence . . . so it is pure, focused, authentic and whole.

Perhaps when we rejoice, we are making a declaration that we are ready – ready to succeed . . . ready to be rich . . . ready to love . . . ready for whatever it is we want to do next . . . whatever Life wants to give us.

Success won’t come to someone who isn’t ready.  Love won’t come to someone who isn’t ready.  And riches, money, abundance and prosperity won’t come unless you are ready.

So as you proceed on your path to riches . . . remember to rejoice – to announce and celebrate your readiness to proceed and receive all the riches you desire . . . and you will.

Live Serendipitously . . . EnjOy . . . and Dare to Rejoice!

Redefining Relationships

June 21st, 2010 Madeleine Kay No comments

When we talk about relationships, we almost always think of interactions between people.  But some of our most crucial relationships are not with people at all . . . yet they have a profound effect on our lives and our relationships with others.

Like our relationship with money or food or ourselves . . . or with Life itself.

So many of us have a warped, confused, undeveloped or resistant relationship with money or food or with ourselves . . . that these each become problems for us and areas of struggle, causing us to focus on the money, food or ourselves rather than on our relationship with each of these.

The relationship however, is something we can change.  It’s something we have power over.  The thing itself is not something we can change because it’s an entity.

Everything we experience is really just a dynamic between us and the entity or experience.  This dynamic is based on our perspective and how we respond to the entity or experience.  So if we change our perspective, we can alter our response.  For example, if we move from behind a tree, our entire perspective changes and things look completely different.  So, we relate to them differently and can interact with them differently.

Similarly, if we step out of our often subconscious resistance to money and success, our ever vigilant obsession with food and our weight . . . if we cut ourselves some slack in our relationship with ourselves – we will relate to money, food and ourselves differently and eliminate, or at least diminish, our struggle with these things . . . and our lives will therefore, begin to change.

If you move through Life with gratitude, appreciation and friendliness rather than struggle and conflict, that responsiveness you have and express to Life creates, magnetizes, attracts and elicits a responsiveness from Life back to you; and all your relationships will miraculously improve and become easier, healthier . . . and a lot more fun and lucrative.

Lately, I find myself thinking about and frequently referring to some of my favorite quotes . . . so I decided to share some of them with you so you too can enjoy and benefit from them.

 So here goes . . .

and achieving our mark.”

“Do not postpone joy.”

The Power of Making a Decision . . .

May 6th, 2010 Madeleine Kay No comments

In my last blog, I spoke about making a decision to be fit and healthy this spring (or successful, happy, rich . . . or whatever you decide you want to do, be or have).

And – I explained what making a decision means . . . because I don’t think most people really know or are willing to accept and admit what it means to make a decision.

It’s so important . . . that I just want to reiterate – making a decision means eliminating “if” and replacing it with “when.” It’s that simple!

And because it’s so simple . . . so laser-like and focused – it is very powerful . . . and therefore . . . terrifying to most of us.

So – we complicate things. Why? To engage our minds. To distract us. To occupy our time and energy. To give us excuses and reasons for not doing, being or having what we want.

But if it’s simple – then we have no excuses. If it’s simple, then we must “decide”; otherwise, we feel like a fraud or a failure. So – to avoid the responsibility of actually doing what we say we are going to . . . the responsibility of deciding, (not wishing, hoping, praying or trying) – we just never really make the decision.

What we don’t realize however, is that not making a decision, is a decision – a decision not to decide! . . . And by doing that, we trap ourselves in the low, ineffective energy of trying – and never really succeed because trying has no energy, no passion, no urgency, no commitment to it . . . and we console ourselves with “Oh well, at least I tried”.

But trying is not good enough. Not for things you really care about. Trying is only for experimenting and exploring . . . To get results, you need to make a decision . . . You need to change “if” to “when”.

So Do it . . . Do it now! Do you want to be healthy? Do you want to be thin? Do you want to be happy . . . in a wonderful relationship . . . successful . . . rich? Whatever you really want . . . and mean to do, be or have . . . make a decision today and just do it.

Rabbi Hillel said, “If not now, when?” So do it . . . Do it now!

The Secret to Feeling Good About Yourself . . .

April 14th, 2010 Madeleine Kay No comments

Now that spring is here, I see many people struggling to get their weight down or under control . . . trying to eat better, exercise and be healthy.

This seems, for many, to be a perennial problem – one that they deal with year after year, so that it almost becomes a part of their identity and who they are.  It is what they come to expect each spring . . . and therefore, what happens.

But that is precisely the problem.  You see, we get what we expect . . . our experiences are often, self-fulfilling prophesies.

So the way to change the outcome is to change the expectation.  How do you change the expectation?  By making a decision.

A decision – by definition – means being determined.  It means making a declaration that is firm, unwavering, unconditional and categorical . . . a decision is decisive!

I know that sounds redundant – but because most people do not make decisions – it needs to be expressed redundantly to unequivocally convey to you the power of making a decision.

Making a decision means – not saying you want something . . . or wish for it to happen . . . or pray that it will happen, or hope, or even that you are going to work hard at it.  A decision means that you are going to do something – no “ifs”, “ands” or “buts” – you are going to make it happen!

And maybe that’s why so few people really make a decision – about almost everything in their lives.  Because making a decision carries with it a huge responsibility . . . it sets both us and the unseen forces in the universe in motion to give us what we’ve decided.

So there is no more falling back on excuses.  There are no longer any defense mechanisms . . . no more room for laziness or avoidance . . . nothing left for us but to do what we’ve decided . . . and that’s scary – making a declaration to do what we say we will – with no outs, no back doors, no “what ifs”, no “I’ll try’s” . . . just doing!

What are you wishing, hoping, and praying for?  What can you stop avoiding making a decision about right now?
