Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions . . .

January 12th, 2010 Madeleine Kay No comments

Now that you’ve made your resolutions for 2010, how can you make sure you keep them?

What could possibly guarantee . . . that you will keep your New Year’s Resolutions?

There is something . . . and it is so simple, you will be amazed you never thought of it before.

Let’s backtrack a little first.  You and I really should have begun this conversation  before the new year . . . to make it a bit easier, more definitive and less complicated.  But, no problem . . . beginning now just adds one small step, that’s all.

So, since you’ve already made your New Year’s Resolutions, let’s start there.  You’ve made your resolutions – maybe 2 or 3 . . . maybe 5 or 6 . . . or maybe, you made just one resolution, which makes what we are going to do to ensure that you keep it, that much easier.

But it doesn’t matter how many you made.  You made them . . . and now you are probably beginning to wonder if you will keep them . . . if you can keep them.  Perhaps you are beginning to feel anxious as you think about how you will ever keep them . . . so you begin wishing, hoping, praying, and struggling with yourself over keeping those lofty resolutions you made, just a week ago, with such resolve.

Or did you?   Did you make them with resolve?  Or did you make them the way we all do almost everything – casually, with the thought that I’ll try to keep them . . . or I hope I keep them . . . (or even) this year, I’m going to keep them (but deep down, there is still that tentativeness you feel)?

So how can you get rid of that tentativeness?  How can you make sure you keep your resolutions?  It’s really quite simple actually.  Just decide to keep them.  Yes . . . just decide!  (This is a lot easier if you decide before you make your resolutions, so you make only that resolution (or resolutions) that you have categorically, unconditionally decided you will keep.  Or, if you’ve already made several resolutions, select and focus only on the one or those you decide to keep.)  Yes . . . just decide!

Most people do everything but decide.  They pray, they wish, they hope, they plead, they try, they beg, they make all kinds of bargains with and promises to God if he/she will only bring them what they want . . . if he/she will only help them keep their New Year’s Resolutions.

Most people avoid making a decision about almost everything in their lives    . . . and don’t even realize they are avoiding it . . . that they are being vague and non-committal.  So many of us are not used to being declarative and decisive.

It sounds so easy — just decide.  But it isn’t.  simple, yes; but not easy because “simple” is rarely easy for people.  Our brains like to complicate things – and often we look for all kinds of convoluted answers and complex solutions to our prayers, questions and problems . . . and in so doing, we miss the very simple solution that is usually right there in front of us . . . Just Decide . . .

Making a decision is very powerful.  When you make a decision, everything changes.  Making a decision takes you out of the realm of the hypothetical and plunks you into the realm of certainty.  Making a decision eliminates the if from the equation . . . and replaces it with when.  Making a decision obliterates the how, the details . . . and just catapults you toward the result you desire.

Once you make up your mind and make a decision, you eliminate the extraneous and the hypothetical . . . so that the reality of what you desire becomes a fait accompli.  Then it is only a matter of time until the external reality you are experiencing will catch up with and mirror your inner reality.

Few people realize the power of making a decision . . . and therefore, rarely make a firm, unwavering decision to do, be or have something.  If you will just decide . . . you will step into your power to do, be or have whatever you want . . . and you will keep your New Year’s Resolution(s) with effortless ease and unmitigated joy.

THE ONLY NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION YOU NEED

December 15th, 2009 Madeleine Kay No comments

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU NEED TO DO
TO CHANGE IF I AM RICH TO WHEN I AM RICH?

I  discovered that one thing and it changed my life.

For years, I (like many of you probably), was paying my bills, but was never rich.

Then I began doing what I love . . . and I still wasn’t getting rich.  I began working harder and longer.  Still, nothing happened.

So, I dreamed.  I hoped.  I prayed.  I meditated.  I even begged sometimes.  But got no results.

What was the missing ingredient?  I kept wondering.  What was I overlooking?

I kept asking myself that over and over, until I got my answer.  Once I knew that . . . everything changed . . . and I began to get rich.

I discovered the one thing – the only thing – I absolutely had to do to change if I am rich to when I am rich.

And it was so simple . . . I couldn’t believe I never thought of it before!

Once you learn the secret of that one thing – that one simple thing – it will unlock the door to anything . . . everything you want . . . and you will step into the energy of possibility and be catapulted into success . . . you will unleash limitless living and unlimited wealth in your life.

That’s what happened to me three years ago, when I had an epiphany about money and energy that changed my life . . . and since then, I have been wanting to share the amazingly simple secrets I discovered about how to become rich with all of you.

I worked feverishly to complete my book Serendipitously Rich . . . THE BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT

December 8th, 2009 Madeleine Kay No comments

by MADELEINE KAY on December 8, 2009

Perhaps the most fabulous thing about the holidays is that they get you to live life as it is meant to be lived – in the moment!  And perhaps that is really why we all feel so good and are so happy at Christmas time – not because of gifts, or even the celebration, camaraderie and togetherness – but because we and everyone around us, everyone we care about, are “present” . . . in the moment – and are therefore, feeling “really alive” and fully responsive to life.

Drawn into “NOW” without any thought or effort, we see all the glittering lights of the holidays; hear the tinkling bells and sounds of laughter; smell the aroma of hot apple cider and cinnamon; feel the texture of life – the decorations, trees, presents, people moving around – making us feel alive and vibrant.

All of our senses are awakened and engaged at Christmas time – senses which are often rarely engaged the rest of the year – beckoning us to savor life . . . savor the moment.  Since our senses are our receptors to the outside world – holiday time awakens us – titillating these senses . . . these receptors to everything and everyone around us – to life.

But every day can and should be a holiday – an occasion to celebrate – if we keep our senses open, alive and receptive; if we live each day with that wonder and appreciation that it is unlike any other day and will never be repeated; if we continue to gasp when we see a magnificent flaming red maple tree spread out before us at the end of November; listen to the lone bird singing outside our window in December; admire the radiant red rose coming up through the crack in the snow-covered sidewalk; or the sound of  a little child’s glee as he/she sloshes around in the melting snow.  It’s all a gift – it’s all just for a moment – and we are there to witness, enjoy and savor it.

May your lives truly be merry and bright – and may this New Year usher in a time of abundance, joy and love for you all.

Serendipitously Yours,

Madeleine Kay
