HAPPY SERENDIPITY DAY!

August 18th, 2010 Madeleine Kay No comments

Making the world a happier place . . . one personal at a time!

Serendipity Day is being celebrated today – August 18th for the first time this year!  Go to www.serendipityholiday.com to learn more.

I am in the process of getting Serendipity Day declared a national holiday.  The response to this has been so overwhelmingly enthusiastic and people have been asking me . . . Why August 18th?  So . . . I’ll let you in on the mystery so that today will carry special added significance for you . . . and you will be able to celebrate and appreciate Serendipity Day that much more today – August 18th!

Reason #1 – In ancient Numerology, the number 8 means “manifestation.”  Well,

August is the 8th month . . . and 8 is part of the number 18.

So . . . Serendipity Day is a day for you to manifest whatever you desire

                     and dream of.

Reason #2 – In ancient Numerology, the number 9 means “completion.”  Since

                     1 + 8 = 9 . . . Serendipity Day is a day for you to complete something

you have begun.  (I don’t know about you, but I am always “in

process” with so many things, that “completion” is an big thing for me

                     . . . and for you too, I imagine.)

August 18th is an invitation for you to complete something you

want to – something you’ve been dealing with, something

you’ve been working on, something you’ve been holding on to

and are ready to let go of.

Reason #3 – In ancient languages, there were no numbers, so the letters of the

alphabet had numerical equivalents.  In ancient Hebrew, the letters in

the  word for Life – Chai – total up to 18.  So . . . Serendipity Day is a

day for you to celebrate life . . . celebrate the joy of being alive!

Reason #4 – The sequence of numbers that results from having the holiday on

August 18th is 8-1-8.  (August is the 8th month and 18 is the day

of the official Serendipity celebration.)  This sequence adds up to 17,

which when added together equals 8! . . . which brings us back to

where we started – manifesting what we want in life!

(P.S.  This was quite by accident . . . or serendipitous, if you will.  I had

not consciously intended or thought of #4, it just happened . . .

But, there are no accidents, are there?!  So . . . Serendipity Day is

a day that is telling us, each one of us, to manifest what we desire,

to complete and let go of what we wish to, and to celebrate life!

          So . . . Live Serendipitously . . . Enjoy . . . and

Dare to Celebrate the Joy of Being Alive

Happy Serendipity Day!!

                                                                  8 – 1 – 8

Dare To Be Phenomenal

August 16th, 2010 Madeleine Kay No comments

“Anyone who doesn’t believe in miracles, isn’t a realist,” said David Ben-Gurion,
the first Prime Minister of Israel.

A friend of mine just e-mailed me when she heard I have created a new holiday – Serendipity Day – and am in the process of getting it declared a national holiday.

“How do you do these things?” she wrote.  “You are phenomenal … I am struggling to get some PR for my new book and you are creating National holidays … wondrous … at this time in the world, all this is so needed.”

And it made me realize how needed all this really is … how needed a holiday celebrating serendipity is … how needed it is to remind me why I began writing about serendipity in the first place, and why I am committed to helping people bring more serendipity into their lives, every single day … how needed it is to remind every one of you that you have the ability to be phenomenal – and that you too can do anything you want … even create national holidays!

Serendipity Day is a day for you to begin to remember how phenomenal you are … how thrilling life can be!  It is a day that invites you to dare to be enthusiastic … to get excited about something … and then carry that over into every day of your life so you make your life extraordinary and serendipitous.

My friend asked me how I do these things . . . it’s simple.  I get so excited that the energy, the passion, the momentum of my sheer, unadulterated enthusiasm propel me forward to just do it!  I don’t hesitate; I don’t wonder how; I don’t ask myself “what if.”  I just do it . . . and am fueled by the uninterrupted momentum of my enthusiasm.

Nothing special . . . no extraordinary talent or secret.  I just think of something … get excited about it . . . decide to do it . . . and then just do it!  And you can too … if you will believe in miracles and just say yes, instead of how or what if.

Live Serendipitously . . . EnjOy . . . and Dare to Be Phenomenal!

Do you Have a Dream?

January 15th, 2010 Madeleine Kay No comments

How lucky we are to have a holiday that honors dreams . . . a day that celebrates the dreamer.

Martin Luther King Day is so important because it not only celebrates Martin Luther King, the man . . . it also celebrates Martin Luther King, the person who dared to dream.

It emphasizes the importance of having a dream . . . for all of us.

So many times, people who dare to dream are told, “Oh, you’re such a dreamer” . . . as though that’s a bad thing.

Or, they’re admonished not to dream too big because that is being arrogant, or that is expecting or asking for too much and then they will be disappointed, or that is being unrealistic, or . . . or . . . or . . .

Well, the dreamer’s response to all of this should be, “Of course I’m a dreamer!  Everything begins with a dream.”  If you read the story of every successful person . . . that success began with a dream.

And . . . No dream is too big!  As recently as last year, Susan Boyle proved that.  Singing “I’ve Got a Dream” from Les Miserables on the reality show “Britain’s Got Talent,” Susan Boyle, a plain looking 48-year old spinster from rural Scotland whose dream it was to be a major singing star, became a worldwide sensation within nine days of her appearance.

Seven months after that first appearance, she debuted her first CD that sold a million copies and went platinum within just a few days . . . making her a record breaking worldwide sensation in her popularity and meteoric rise, that could only be compared to the Beatlemania of the 1960’s.  She even surpassed her musical idol, of whom she dreamed like being.

If you don’t dream, you can’t imagine . . . and Einstein, the greatest physicist in history, said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”  What you can imagine is so much more powerful than what you know.

“It’s never too late to be who you might have been,” wrote Nineteenth Century English novelist, George Eliot.  Who might you be if you had dared to dream?  Who can you become today?

Dare to dream . . . and become the person you might have been.

Live Serendipitously . . . EnjOy . . . and Dare to Dream!

THE BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT

December 8th, 2009 Madeleine Kay No comments

by MADELEINE KAY on December 8, 2009

Perhaps the most fabulous thing about the holidays is that they get you to live life as it is meant to be lived – in the moment!  And perhaps that is really why we all feel so good and are so happy at Christmas time – not because of gifts, or even the celebration, camaraderie and togetherness – but because we and everyone around us, everyone we care about, are “present” . . . in the moment – and are therefore, feeling “really alive” and fully responsive to life.

Drawn into “NOW” without any thought or effort, we see all the glittering lights of the holidays; hear the tinkling bells and sounds of laughter; smell the aroma of hot apple cider and cinnamon; feel the texture of life – the decorations, trees, presents, people moving around – making us feel alive and vibrant.

All of our senses are awakened and engaged at Christmas time – senses which are often rarely engaged the rest of the year – beckoning us to savor life . . . savor the moment.  Since our senses are our receptors to the outside world – holiday time awakens us – titillating these senses . . . these receptors to everything and everyone around us – to life.

But every day can and should be a holiday – an occasion to celebrate – if we keep our senses open, alive and receptive; if we live each day with that wonder and appreciation that it is unlike any other day and will never be repeated; if we continue to gasp when we see a magnificent flaming red maple tree spread out before us at the end of November; listen to the lone bird singing outside our window in December; admire the radiant red rose coming up through the crack in the snow-covered sidewalk; or the sound of  a little child’s glee as he/she sloshes around in the melting snow.  It’s all a gift – it’s all just for a moment – and we are there to witness, enjoy and savor it.

May your lives truly be merry and bright – and may this New Year usher in a time of abundance, joy and love for you all.

Serendipitously Yours,

Madeleine Kay
